The SwitchBot Curtain supports different track types such as U-rail and I-rail, and also rod types. It is also wireless. Just clip it on and you're ready to go. It is that simple. 

We even handle that "BUMP" for extendable rods and rails

The round rails allow the SwitchBot Curtain to glide smoothly along the rod. Just clip on the rails and you're all set.

For those of you who have a longer rod with a bump where the rod extends, we've got that figured out. The SwitchBot Curtain is not affected by such bumps.

Even with SwitchBot Curtain, you'd probably still instinctively draw the curtains by hand some times. When it senses you drawing the curtain, the SwitchBot Curtain will kick in and do the work for you. We call this Touch & Go.

Double-sided curtains are very common and we have been getting a lot of inquiries about how to use the SwitchBot Curtain with these. You could get two units and part the double-sided curtains from the middle. Or, you could try out this tip from the King of Retrofit! Attach the top curtains with a velcro strip or a strong clip so the curtains will move as one. Then install the SwitchBot Curtain on either end to let it work its magic!

So your next question is probably where to find a velcro strip. The good news is, we believe so strongly in retrofitting that we will ship every SwitchBot Curtain with a velcro strip in the box as a standard accessory.

What's more, you can forget about having to charge it by getting the solar power strip add-on. Sunlight will ensure the SwitchBot Curtain is charged up for its daily work routine.

Why we need your support

We have finished the development of the SwitchBot Curtain and we are excited to get it into the market to you. However, we cannot bring this product to life without your support. We need to raise funds for the raw materials and components needed to start mass production of the SwitchBot Curtain.

A few years ago, we shared the possibility to control SwitchBot on their Raspberry Pi, OpenWRT board, or PC running Linux based system. It has been a fantastic journey since then with contributions by many users who love to DIY!

Besides adapting the SwitchBot Curtain to work with any rods and rails, you can also use create hooks to extend the SwitchBot Curtain's function! We came up with wacky ideas such as using it to open and close the door,  and building a cam cable to mounting a small action camera or the OSMO Pocket. We are excited to see what creative ideas can you come up with!

Our co-founder and CEO, Connery, has been the in IoT industry specializing in smart home for years. One night after reading before sleeping, he realized that he cannot even turn off his bedroom light and close his curtain on the bed. This led to the team evaluating all kinds of self-proclaimed smart switches and curtains in the market. Our first thought was to have a robot butler. Yet, the reality is that despite years of robots making the news, we have not seen a real robot that in our homes. Thus, we began our adventure to create a useful, simple and convenient bot. SwitchBot is the fruit of our labor. With this product philosophy in mind, we strive to create more products that will help our users save time, effort and money spent on hiring professionals for installation.
